About

Because my program has a rather vague title--Special Individualized Program--I generally refer to my "discipline" as Critical Diversity Studies, which generally means that I examine identities based on such subjective markers as race, gender, class, sexuality, religion, etc. and their intersections and assemblages, particularly in a Canadian context. My dissertation, which I am currently working on, involves an analysis of life stories collected from ten racialized allosexual activists in Montreal; more specifically, I am looking at the performative strategies these activists have used throughout their lives to survive as well as to do their activist work.
