About
I study and write about queer performance geographies--queer cultures and the spaces of their performances. Particularly, I study the history of bar cultures, drag queen/king performances, and gay and lesbian cultural spaces at various scales (from the intimate to the public)and times (historical to contemporary). I am also interested in the material cultures of HIV/AIDS, affective politics and the visible and invisible geographies of public spaces. I use performance geography both as a subject of study and as an approach to research and writing. I am currently working on ideas about queer archives as activist spaces and queer maps as art forms.
